May Deputation

Sunday Morning at First Baptist Church, Charlottetown

Over the past month, we have appreciated our time connecting with friends and supporting churches who are faithfully partnering with us, and Canadian Baptist Ministries, in our international work of Integral Mission. Here are a few snap shots from our visits over the past few days on Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

Summerside United Baptist Church

We have been overwhelmed by the love and support of churches for the women’s empowerment ministry of Self Help Groups that Erica leads in Kenya. The solidarity necklaces and scarves that Erica has brought back with us to Canada are providing a solid income for vulnerable refugee families living in the urban ghetto of Eastleigh, Nairobi. Thank you!

Speaking at First United Baptist Church, Moncton
New Brunswick

Last night, Aaron spoke to a packed room at First Baptist Moncton. It was so encouraging to meet many CBM alumni and faithful supporters of mission. We learned that many people in the church have been to East Africa or have close friends who have visited. We want to thank senior pastor Richard Jackson and the congregation at First for their support. It is fantastic to know that churches like First Moncton at deeply involved in Integral Mission within their own community as they reach out to their neighbours through ministries like New Life Mission -- May the Lord bless this community through you!

Celebrating Grammie

Throughout the British Common Wealth, 2012 marks the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen’s Medal was marked in 2012 as part of Canada’s celebration to honour people who have made a contribution to their community.

Grammie received her medal on Monday from Lieutenant Governor Frank Lewis and Provincial Premier Robert Ghizz. She was one of 22 Islanders who were honoured at the ceremony including past provincial premiers, the chief justice, and the living past presidents of the Federated Women’s Institute of PEI.

Atlantic Baptist Women

Erica and Jane Weiler at Crandall University

This weekend, we had the pleasure of participating in the Atlantic Baptist Women’s Convention in Moncton, New Brunswick. This year’s theme is "Living Tree-Mendously”. Throughout the conference, we had a lot of fun connecting with old and new friends. Among them was Jane Weiler, who has been a faithful follower of our blog since we began it six years ago, and without a doubt she wins the award of being our most regular commenter. Thank you so much for your encouragement!

We also appreciate all the help and support of Linda Naves, who serves with Canadian Baptist Ministries here in Atlantic Canada. Linda, Ann Drost and Barb Keys have been working behind the scenes on our behalf in organizing and facilitating home assignment.
