The Healer
Last weekend, the Middle School Drama Club at Rosslyn Academy presented their own play, over three days of performances. It was an exciting weekend, as the lights went down and the curtain came up for the debut of The Healer.
Tristan as historian Arnold Kenshaw, and Mary McGee as extreme adventure guide, Jennifer Maxwell, listening to the invitation Prescott, played by Brian M.
Tristan's friend, Robert Brown, who plays William, the assistant
to the villain -- can he really go along with this sinister plot?
The heroes decide to take up the quest to find the mysterious healer for Prescott -- to save his daughter and potentially the world from a terrible plague.
But the journey is filled with complications!
Where is this mysterious healer, for starters?
Arnold "sweet talks" the team into the secret
subterranean level of the library
The heroes follow the clues to the mysterious healer
... a girl who does not age, last seen in Mexico.
The Ninja gang in hot pursuit of our heroes...
... one of their fellowship is wounded...
... a doctor, a plane, a crash landing
in a South American jungle...
... temptation ...
... "We come in peace!" ...
... more Ninja trouble ...
... with the help of local villagers, the heroes defeat the dreaded Ninja assassins and complete their quest as they reach the renown healer. With a shocking revelation from an unlikely source, together they make the right choice to protect the healer from the ruthless villain. But is this really the end of the story?
Andy Brown and the Middle School Cast
On Sunday afternoon, we had the joy of hosting Tristan's cast party at our home. The kids had a lot of fun reliving the highlights of their drama club and watching a video of their performance.
Lisa Brown, director, leading the cast in selecting awards for the their cast mates. Over the past three months, Lisa has led the students through a process of "devised theatre" where the cast themselves created and wrote their own script around the themes of friendship & choices and used a traditional "quest" plot. It was a lot of work, but the students did an amazing job!
