New School Year

Ava on her way to class on her first day of school!

On Tuesday, Ava began her second year at Potterhouse, where she attends preschool. She was very excited to finally be back to school after a long month of watching her big brother and sister going off to school in the morning and having to stay back at home.

She had a fantastic first day of school and was very excited to be back once again this morning.

Back to School 2010

Last Wednesday, Ava returned to school at Potter House near our home in Nairobi. Tristan and Emma started their second semester at Rosslyn Academy today, after a good holiday of playing at home and enjoying time as a family. This past weekend we spent a wonderful night out at the Acacia camp where our friends the Bannister's live. We had a great time together with them and our friends the Soucey's who are here from Rwanda for The Sharing Way training course. Everyone is back at the training this week.

We are experiencing some incredible down pours of rain lately. Since December 18th, it has rained at least once every day. On Saturday night, a torrent of rain fell that toppled trees and flooded many areas. The Acacia camp that we had stayed at the night before was a wash and the ranch now has lake to help with the animals until the next rainy season. God is good!

Thank you all so much for keeping us in your prayers. Please continue to uphold the ministry in Eastleigh and the work of Canadian Baptist Ministries throughout Africa.

Our Christmas Star!

Mommy and our little Christmas Star!

On Friday, Potterhouse School finished it's first term with its annual Christmas concert. Ava was a star in the kindergarten nativity pageant: Literally, she was a twinkling star with the other children in the PEACH class.

Ava's star

Over the past month, Ava has been learning her Christmas songs and about the story of the nativity. Although her role in the concert was a star, she has been coming home over the past week or so, proclaiming "I'm the baby Jesus!". It has been quite funny having Ava randomly enter into conversations with this announcement.

We were on the edge of our seats as gifts were brought to Mary and Joseph, knowing that at any time Ava might announce the scandalous news "NO! I'M the baby JESUS!!!"

By God's merciful grace, Ava remained seated and silent during this part of the play.

As it was, Ava spent most of her energy focused on keeping the star on top of her head. The yellow band was a little too loose for Ava and her sparkling star.

The concert was a wonderful success!

Ava is now enjoying the rest of December off, as Potterhouse takes a long Christmas break.
