Young at Heart

Young at Heart
Midland, New Brunswick

Today, we had the great joy of joining our friends for the 9th Anniversary of the "Young at Heart” Ministry. It was so encouraging to see how this outreach to seniors has grown from that first gathering of only 14 people in 2003 to now a regular monthly attendance from 80 to over 100 people. Young at Heart continues to be a vital part of its community thanks to the dedicated volunteers who share their love and their faith so unselfishly!

The Young at Heart Crew

We want to thank Theresa Hickman, Sandra Gray, and all of the Young at Heart volunteers for the energy that you continue to pour into this ministry and for the hospitality and love that you showered upon our family! We hope you have a great summer break, and wish you all a great Fall as Young at Heart returns on the first Tuesday of September.

Today’s gathering overflowed from the sanctuary
into the common room, as Young at Heart welcomed
guests from Sussex to Saint John

(The furtherest guest was, without a doubt, Laura Bonnie who had just arrived from Manila, Philippines, where she serves as a missionary)

Hammond Valley

Hammond Valley Community Church
Smithtown, New Brunswick

This past weekend, we had a wonderful time together with the congregation of Hammond Valley Community Church. We want to thank Pastor Jim and everyone there for their support and commitment to the ministry of CBM. Our family felt loved and encouraged!!!

We were also excited to connect with our good friends the Carline family, and to hear of Kelly’s calling to work among new arrivals in Saint John. It is a new day, as the world is coming to Atlantic Canada -- God is good! We will also be praying for Katie as she prepares to travel to Japan next month where she will be teaching.

This week we will be with the Tuesday Young at Heart Ministry at Midland Baptist Church and sharing on Sunday morning at Main Street Baptist Church, Saint John.

NOT your average Pumpkin Patch!

 THIS CAMP SUPPORTS THE
CANADIAN FOOD GRAINS BANK

This afternoon, we had a lot of fun being a part of a pumpkin planting with Sussex farmer Ken Reicker and the participants in Camp Tulakadik’s Mission Camp. With the help of Ken and his son, Danny, the Camp has cultivated about half an acre of land to plant and grow pumpkins which they will harvest and sell in support of the food relief and food security initiatives of the Canadian Food Grains Bank (CFGB).

CFGB is a Christian organization committed to ending hunger. Through the cooperation of 16 different Christian denominations (including Canadian Baptist Ministries), CFGB supports food relief, food security and nutrition in 34 different countries, including Kenya and Rwanda.

Over the past two days, we have had the joy of participating in Camp Tulakadik’s Mission Camp for people in the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches. It has been a great weekend of worship, sharing, and fun. Along with Erica and I, the camp featured many guest speakers including John Knight, Alden Crain, Roger Graham, Dale Stairs, Lois Mitchell, and Malcolm Card.
