CBM Africa Prayer Update

"Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns
yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
Matthew 6:26

There is much happening with our Canadian Baptist Ministries team and partners throughout Africa. Through the highs and the lows, we continue to trust in God with our sisters and brothers in Christ. Thank you for keeping these ministries, and the people with whom we work, in your prayers.

Here are a few important items for prayer.

KENYA

Later this month, CBM will join our partner the African Christian Church & Schools (ACC&S) in their 70th Anniversary Celebration. We give thanks for all that God is doing among the ACC&S, which is the longest continuous partnership of CBM in Africa.

As part of the December 30th celebration, the ACC&S will be ordaining a large group of women pastors as full reverends for the first time. Erica has been honoured to be included within this group, as the ACC&S recognizes her calling and gifts for ministry. It will be a wonderful day as Erica and this group of women leaders is lifted up by the denomination.

UGANDA

We are delighted to see our colleague Gato becoming integrated into the wider peace work of the Ugandan Christian Lawyers Fraternity (UCLF). Please join us in praying for Gato, Anne Marie, and their family as they relocate to Kampala later this month.

CBM peace and reconciliation specialist, Rev. Gato Munyamasoko, with the leadership of the Ruwenzori Peace Bridge of Reconciliation in Kasese District, Uganda.

SOUTH SUDAN

We pray with our Christian brethren in South Sudan, especially for the people of Bentiu who have endured such horrific attacks in the past two weeks. We pray for the church in South Sudan. May it be a beacon of hope and compassion in the midst of the conflict and brutality that has gripped this nation.

The DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC of CONGO

We pray for the people of the DRC as they prepare for upcoming elections. We especially remember the communities of Eastern DRC where in the past few days 18 new cases of Ebola and 5 more deaths have been confirmed.

We pray for the families of the 471 people infected and the 273 killed by the Ebola outbreak, which is now the second largest in history. We continue to pray for the churches of Northern Kivu, for peace, and for the hope of Christ to bring lasting transformation.
