with their teacher Gladys
It is a blessing when God brings new people into our lives, and this week has been full of blessings! The Rev. Kareri Primary School has created a new entry class for many of the refugee children who have been admitted into the school through the child empowerment program: With the new class, the centre has hired a new teacher -- Gladys. We are thankful for her patient and gentle spirit as she serves her students, most of which have never gone to school before.
On Wednesday, we welcomed Rhoda to Iftin: she is a student intern who has come to work with us for three months as part of her community development program with her university. Both Zahra and Nelius spent the afternoon showing her the ropes and introducing her to Iftin. We believe that she will be a great asset to the women as she assists in the formation of self help groups.
In Prayer
Please remember Rhoda as she adjusts to life in Eastleigh, a very different environment from her home town of Meru near Mt. Kenya.
We also hold Gladys in our prayers as she was just notified of the death of her grandmother who was killed in a road accident. We pray for her and her students as she travels home to be with her family during this sad time.
