Happy New Year from the five Kennys!

We celebrated New Year's Eve at home this year with a friend from Eastleigh, however despite everyone's best efforts only Aaron, Erica and Tristan were able to stay awake until midnight. The three of us stood in the backyard and fired off a few roman candles as we listened to the countdowns, singing and fire crackers sounding throughout our neighbourhood.

2009 was an incredible year of great highs and lows.

Even within the last week we've shared such an intense swing of emotions from the joy of Christmas to the sadness of the funeral for our dear friend Sam Mutisya who died just before Christmas after a long and hard battle with stomach cancer. On December 30th, we gathered with our CBM colleagues in attending the day of prayers, tributes and burial at the Mutisya home near Machakos. Over a thousand people attended the funeral that was rich with stories and songs from Sam's family, friends, and the various churches with whom he has served over his career. Sam was an incredible man of faith and humility. Over the past eight years he has served with The Sharing Way, CBM's relief and development arm with passion and integrity. In our own personal life, Sam stood for us before the Kenyan high court as Ava's guardian ad litum during our adoption proceedings. We will miss his constant smile and gentle words of wisdom.

Over the coming few weeks we will be working through a number of ministry challenges and we would appreciate your prayers. Thank you so much for upholding our family and the work of CBM .
