Marbles

Tristan, Emma and Ava each finding a
lupin that matches their height

This past weekend we travelled to Douglas, New Brunswick, where we stayed with the Bettle family in their beautiful century home along the shore of the Saint John River. We arrived and had a fun time checking out the backyard, sharing supper, and playing games with our wonderful hosts.

Marble Madness!
According to Tristan, we are in our "marble phase" as a family. Over the past week, we've had a lot of fun hunting down marbles at local shops and brushing up on the rules to our favourite old marble games.

In the heat of battle!

On Saturday night, Mark Bettle pulled out some of his childhood collection of marbles, and we played a new-to-us-version of the game taught to us by Judy. In this indoor-version of the game you must bank the marble off a wall and trying to hit the ducks on the ground. Our kids are very competitive. So be fair warned if you get asked to play along our journey -- we play for "keepsies"!
